FAQ : NewsLeecher Usenet Access Service

Note : This FAQ ( Frequently Asked Questions guide ) is only about the NewsLeecher Usenet Access service. It is not about the NewsLeecher Usenet software.

Q : Can I only use the Usenet Account in the NewsLeecher application?

A : No, you can use the Usenet access service with any preferred Usenet client software.
Q : What is the NewsLeecher Usenet server address?

A : The simplest method is to connect to news.newsleecher.com. By doing that, you will automatically connect to the server farm closest to your location.

Alternatively, you can direct your connection to a specific server farm. Either eu.newsleecher.com for Europe, or North America at us.newsleecher.com. ( http://www.screencast.com/t/psZEEe9aH )


Q : What is my NewsLeecher Usenet username / password ?

A : You can find your Usenet username and password in members area at https://www.newsleecher.com/members/

You can also change your password from within the members area.
Q : What Usenet ports can I use ?

A : The service uses standard connection ports.

Encryption SSL : Port 563. Port 80 and 81 can also be used for SSL connections.

Non-SSL : Port 119 . Other Non SSL ports are 23, 443, 3128, 7000, 8000 and 9000.
Q : How do I enable SSL In the NewsLeecher application?

A : In Manager tab -> Edit server
Check "Use Encrypted Server Connections (SSL)"
