What to do if SuperSearch seems to be down ?

Post by Spiril » Mon Oct 13, 2014 3:55 am

If you are unable to connect to SuperSearch, it might be due to one of several reasons.
Please read through the following steps, before posting a SuperSearch downtime report to the forums.

Step #1: Check the real-time updated SuperSearch status on the NewsLeecher Services Status Page.

Step #2 : Check the news section on the NewsLeecher front page.
Check the news section on the NewsLeecher front page, to see if it says anything concerning SuperSearch downtime.

Step #3 : Wait 20 minutes time, and see if SuperSearch is up again.
Occasionally SuperSearch is down for a shorter period of time because the server needs to be restarted, upgraded, etc.

Step #4 : Again, check the news section on the NewsLeecher front page.
It might have been updated since you checked 20 minutes ago.

Step #5 : If you have waited around 20 minutes, checked the news section, read through the SuperSearch 'issues guide', and you are still unable to connect or use SuperSearch, you might want to post a downtime report to the NewsLeecher forum. Please post the report in this specific forum topic, by using the 'reply' button, instead of starting a new topic.

On the Supersearch status page it has said 'Warning' for the last hour. Can this be rectified??
Best Regards

Yep. I've been unable to use NL for several hours now. Oh well. I took the down time to rip some TV shows and movies.

You can still get your stuff down on the Articles Tab. It is a bit of a balls ach, but the stuff is still there.

Seems to be back up, though Service Article Retention took a catastrophic hit. Went from 16,519.78 Days to 2,030.02 Days. You would think it would be at least as long as the Binary Groups Retention 2,414.88 Days.

There's no way it ever had 16,519 days. That's over 45 YEARS. Which, if you do the math, works out to 1970. And guess how Unix-style dates are calculated... as the number of seconds from January 1st, 1970. Which means there was a timestamp of "null" used in that calculation.
