I see this too and after exclusion the DL folder from AV, have come to the conclusion that my cpu simply can't keep up to the 1GB dl speeds. It's current pegged at near 100%

In my experience, V7 has never reacted this way to fast DL speeds. IMHO, V8 still has some significant bugs that need to be fixed. I still maintain that there is no further development happening on V8. It is dead.

I like the new interface a lot and to be honest, I saw just as many exceptions with V7. Today I had no problems save for one crash.
One thing that is perplexing is that sometime in the last couple of years I can’t download all headers and maybe that’s just because of the nature of the way NL is indexing now. Are used to like to peruse all downloaded headers but noticed in V8 there’s a tool tip to advise just using super search to know what you’re looking for.
I wished both sections worked but maybe using that has just changed that much.

Anyone found a solution to this problem? I just got 1gbit connection and now when I download about 60000KB I'm getting this error. That translate to about 60MB/S and I can do a copy from HDD to HDD with 140MB/S+ without any errors.

I see it randomly and just either ignore the error (don't close the bug window) and it usually continues. Worst case I just Kill Process then restart NL and downloads continue in queue

It does continue but then it slows down your connection so it can write and if it constantly doing that than downloads takes alot longer.zenmusicman wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 12:37 amI see it randomly and just either ignore the error (don't close the bug window) and it usually continues. Re: 8.0 Beta 4: Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device
Since I built a new PC, I face the same issue. On my old (slower) PC NL 8.04 (still) works like a charm but on my new one I loose more than 20 percent download speed because of temporarily pausing about every 10 seconds.
I tried an HDD which I benchmarked with 90 MByte/s, an SSD (>400 MByte/s) and even an external USB 3.0 drive.
What makes me wonder is that with the latest version of NL 7 I have the same issue but far less annoying since the pauses are much shorter.
My connection to the internet is 100 MBit which I usually even exceed a few Mbits when downloading with other programs. The CPU load is about 18 percent.
I tried uninstalling NL but it most probably hasnt been uninstalled completely since after reinstalling NL it not only had all settings but also the DL queue and search results (I shut down the PC between uninstalling and reinstalling NL).
Any good idea?

Re: 8.0 Beta 4: Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device
Ironic that newer and faster hardware actually slows NL 8 down. Likely an design / engineering flaw. I can't think of another app that has this type of problem.
Re: 8.0 Beta 4: Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device
Neither can I.
Another problem NL has is that apparently no official takes care of it anymore. Is NL in a state where it only runs to earn money as long as possible or is there still any development and customer care?

I am able to get ABOUT 90MB/S with torrent so I know it's not a hardrive issue. I hope dev can fix this issue with NL.

Hello @all
I had the same problem after one of the last Windows 10 pro x64 updates (don't know which update causes the problem!)
but my solution:
I go to:
- Windows settings
- Virus & threat protection settings
- cloud-based protection => I turned the slider to the left (Off)
then the problem was resolved!

Great, worked for me. It's obviously nothing to do with drive speeds cause I'm using a usb 2 hd and now I can dl in the background
thanks bernie

This worked for me also. I was having issues with "Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device" which was causing major slow downs and lockups. I did not have these problems with another client software on same pc. I prefer not to have protections turned off so I may use another client until issue is corrected. Thanks for your help.

Hello @all
in addition to my post of November 7th (see above), I found another, easier solution:
add the path to the "NL-Download Folder" into Windows settings\Virus & threat protection settings\Exclusions
all the other "Virus & threat protection settings"a can remain active !

Well....
Neither solution worked for me: firewall, settings, Virus protection or even going back to NL 7.0
The same behavior: stop go stop go....
Frustrating
