Re: 340 Days since the last release

They have lost interest. If you do the math, for the services you get, Newsleecher is way more expensive than Newsbin Pro.

Re: down again!

Yup. That old Pentium-class machine they are running on has crashed again. Interestingly, when you do the math, Newsleecher is considerably more expensive than Newsbin Pro.

I have been using Newsbin Pro, and so far, I find it faster and more reliable.

The search function on Easynews is great, and it actually works.

Re: Download Speed

The smartest thing for the Developers of NL to do would be to sell off their rights to someone else who has the time and willingness to move forward.

Re: 8.0 Beta 4: Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device

I will be shocked if you get a meaningful response from the developers. Actions speak louder than words, and it has now been more than a year since the last beta was released. Why don't the developers simply announce end of support so we can all make decisions and move on? I agree with you regarding...

Re: Supersearch only goes back 396 days max

Honestly, someone should come along with a superior app that handles obfuscation and passwording right out of the box. As for searches, the newsgroup providers are in the best position to provide that. If I was writing an app from scratch, I'd figure out a way to leverage their history, without havi...

Re: Crash, Crash, Crash

It was never updated beyond XE7? I remember running a Delphi team a long time ago. It is not as commonly used as Java, Dotnet, etc but it is still maintained.

Lack of resources could definitely be why development has stalled.

Re: Crash, Crash, Crash

The problems you are reporting with the beta are unfortunately not new, and have been documented here before. As far as an updated release? As you note, it has been just a few days less than an entire year since the most recent V8 beta was made available. I highly doubt that there will be an update....

Re: 340 Days since the last release

I would suggest that an achievable stretch goal would see us finish 2020 with no significant update to V8.

December 2019 is the last posted beta. Let that sink in!

Ironic that newer and faster hardware actually slows NL 8 down. Likely an design / engineering flaw. I can't think of another app that has this type of problem.

I still believe that this is running on an XP-class machine under someone's desk or in a closet. Why isn't this clustered?

Agreed, but sadly, I don't see anything changing in the future that would improve the current situation. We individually have to either tolerate it, or move on.

Re: 299.24 Days since latest release

Unfortunately, I doubt a new beta is coming. I would dearly love to be proven wrong, provided that it is a new beta with REAL improvements.
