Re: Maximum Days Searching down to 690 days?

Yes. The number of days you can search keeps getting shorter. But this is not surprising. Newsleecher used to be a really good program but it has been steadily going down hill for a few years now. It has been completely abandoned and the people in charge here have made it very clear that they just d...

Re: Questions. So many Questions. And never any answers.

Honestly, as another long time NL user, this has become a matter of trust. We have seen constant silence, dishonesty and broken promises in recent years. It is clear that Spiril and gang don't care or are incapacitated. Regardless of the situation, why not let us know? I guess Spiril is happy to ju...

Questions. So many Questions. And never any answers.

The latest news (July 28) says: "Due to a new way, a group of posters are posting to the Usenet as of late, the SuperSearch indexer is missing some of the posted contents." So what is this "new way of posting"? And why are you even mentioning it since you haven't updated NL since December 2019 ? Why...

Re: Very Old Version

Version 5 was the last good version. Unfortunately it is VERY old. I have a feeling that there is no way to activate it. Newsleecher has been completely abandoned by its creator. They keep lying and saying that they have not abandoned the program, but the facts speak for themself. The last official ...

Re: Supersearch only goes back 396 days max

Unfortunately, SuperSearch is useless junk. Just like Newsleecher, which has been abandoned and hasn't been updated in years. https://i.imgur.com/Ix2sg0B.jpg They advertise their Usenet service as having 4,625 days of retention (12 years). But Super Search only goes back 4 years at most. And that's ...

Re: Why am I an eternal optimist? A users thoughts!

I started using NL a very long time ago and what has happened is just sad. Completely neglected and abandoned. The last "final" release was NL 7 -- more than 4 years ago (June 2016). And what have we got since then? 4 crappy beta releases of NL 8. The last one, NL 8 beta 4, was released 9 months ago...

Suggestion - Better error messages

Just a suggestion. If I try to do a search, and NL can't connect to the SuperSearch service, I get an error message: https://i.imgur.com/8ZqpvvS.jpg OK. that's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. But then, when I click on OK, I get another message: https://i.imgur.com/LS44Kna.jpg Is it really nec...

Re: 8.0 Beta 4: Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device

I have had this problem also. It seems to happen if I add a lot of files to the download que. Everything is fine for a while but them NL stops and says "Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device". And that's it. At that point you can't so anything, can't even exit. I have to...

Is Supersearch "deobfuscation" mis-labeling posts?

I've been noticing something in Usenet groups where people are posting identical videos in both 1080p and 4K (2160p). I'm seeing a lot of this: https://images2.imgbox.com/e1/95/8X2urZfo_o.jpg https://images2.imgbox.com/9f/aa/0xvm2DRb_o.jpg Notice that they both say 1080p in the title, but one is muc...

Re: Newsleecher V8 Beta Release - Timeline

newsleeher version 7 is free to use! Just saying... :D Yes, Newsleecher 7 is free. And you know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Even though NL is free, I have switched to a different Usenet program which is not free. I hated to do it because I've used NL for a long time. But it is very ob...

Re: Garbage articles

can you send us some examples please? support@newsleecher.com thanks, Here is just one tiny sample of what I'm talking about. This garbage is being posted at the rate of A COUPLE HUNDRED GIGABYTES, PER DAY, EVERY DAY . If you are curious what this crap is, and you download any of them, they are all...

Sorting of multi-part articles is wrong

The last part of a multi-part article is always moved into 2nd position.

Notice that part 77, the last part, is after part 01.

Image

I delete part 77 and close Newsleecher, then re-open Newsleecher.

Now part 76 is after part 01.

Garbage articles

On Jan 5 you posted:

"The SuperSearch service has now been fully upgraded. Lots of spam articles were removed from the service"

However most groups are still filled with garbage articles with subject lines like "Dra1Y6NLF9utPwGbYAHs6Xl8RfHJQfcr".
