Re: No Bots displayed

There should be a double up-arrow to the right of the subscription message (Ready-To-Go for you) but I don't see it in the image you posted. If it's there, click it to restore the bot list (it will change to a double down-arrow). Or do Ctrl+Alt+H.

Re: Lost all subscribed newsgroups, saved searches, everything!

If you redirected your NewsLeecher Data and Temp folders by creating a newsleecher.ini file in your NewsLeecher program directory as described here , and if that file got deleted or corrupted, then NL would revert to its default location for them, giving you the symptoms you described. The default l...

I'm getting posts downloaded..but it won't unpack them. Even when I reload the pars, it just sits there. So now I'm manually doing it, but they're scrambled names. sigh
On the Unpacker tab (v8) or Extract tab (v7) do you have all of the checkboxes checked?

Re: Filter within retrieved list

They've changed it so that it's still available but in a much less useful way. There's no secondary filter as there is in v7. After doing a search with too many results you can add more filters to the primary search box and the result will be immediate. You don't have to search again. However, it do...

Re: Running NewsLeecher 4.0 on new system

You need a subscription to use the SuperSearch part of it. Unless you have another way to find what you want, SS is essential. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the new Unscrambled capability requires SuperSearch, and that too is essential with the scrambling of nearly all posts. But that ...

Re: v8b5 UFR 2 - Need Scrambled/Unscrambled name displayed in Unpacker

This workaround may help. Go to Settings | Advanced Tweaks, find Download Descript.ion File Enabled (type "des" in the search box) and set it to True. That will create a hidden file called descript.ion with the name of each downloaded file and its Subject field as its description. Descript.ion files...

Re: Can I Specify A Date Range To Browse Groups

The only way I know to do that is to start downloading headers at the maximum age (300 days in this example) and watch the report of the age being downloaded. When it gets below the minimum (200 days), go offline. Then, if you like, you can delete the headers newer than 200 days. 7.0 Final has an ad...

Re: 8.0b4 - Could not create destination folder

I did a bit more research and found that the file naming error above was introduced in nl80004.ufr3 (12/09/2019). nl80004.ufr2 (12/08) uses just the title for the destination folder, as it should. That's between official betas 3 (12/05) and 4 (12/15). The error has continued through nl80005.ufr2, th...

Re: No headers show in Browse Groups Tab

I've found that for all versions of v8 so far. When I set it to download headers for more than one group at a time, it actually downloads only the final group. All the others are blank. Another possibility is that the recently introduced spam filter thinks all of the headers in certain groups are sp...

Re: 8.0b4 - Could not create destination folder

I too have seen the "Could not create destination folder" error. Currently using 8.0b5ufr2. The problem I see is that NL tries to name the folder with the entire subject line. If the subject line has a description and a title, with the title in quotes, that will prevent the folder name. There might ...

Re: Super Search is buggered, no posts over 25 days

Except for some occasional short-term outages, including right now (message: the SuperSearch engine is being restarted), SuperSearch has returned all the posts I expected. My only disappointment is that a 1-day search with restrictions such as unscrambled, 1080p only and -XXX -HEVC still sometimes s...

Re: rar extract error -not enough disk space

Is that 145 GB available after the rars are already downloaded? Because they'll take up at least 70 GB and they won't be deleted until the archive is extracted, so a total of 140 GB. And there might be temporary files that bring it over 145 GB.

Re: extract with deobfuscated name

What version are you running? All versions of v8 beta will do that, provided you have all the check boxes on the Unpacker tab checked. V7 won't do that but you can do it manually by right-clicking on the header, selecting More, then Copy:Subject. Paste that into a text editor, copy the actual filena...

Re: Not Recognizing <Group> Parameter?

I'm also seeing the error reference to the download path a bit differently, as if there's a carriage return after "E:", with the rest of the path listed below it... and with the first letter of the path truncated. The path should read "E:\news\<Group>\ Capture.JPG Apparently it's interpreting \n as...
