Re: Configuration got rolled back some how?

It sounds like when you ran NL after the crash, it couldn't find your configuration files so it created default ones in the default location, as though you were running it for the first time. That could happen for several reasons. The default location (for Win 10, anyway) is C:\Users\<username>\AppD...

Re: Unpack issue/question

On the Unpacker page, make sure all the checkboxes are checked. Also, noblemd has posted that "In Advanced Settings - If Download Pause While Repair & Extract is set to True downloading is disabled."

Re: An application Bug has Occurred

The first thing to try is to upgrade to 7.0 Final, which came out a few years ago. I upgraded directly from 4.0 so I never used 5.0 and can't say if the problem you're seeing is a common one. I rarely got error messages with 7.0. When I did, they were usually related to downloading more headers than...

Re: de-obfustication idea/request

It doesn't rename the .rar files but after they're downloaded, verified and repaired if necessary, the Unpacker creates a directory with the file's real name, assembles the pieces and saves the resulting file(s) to it, also given their real names. It's automatic. I'm not aware of any setting that wo...

Downloading Headers in Browse Groups

In the Browse Groups tab of NL8b1 (Articles in NL7), if I tell it to download a certain number of days of headers (e.g. the most recent 2 days) it takes a long time to find the range to download. By contrast, NL7 took a second or so. It seems like NL7 does a binary search but NL8 does a linear searc...

Re: Is it possible to add a feature to Newsleecher v8?

Are you running V8 Beta 1? Because it does exactly what you asked for (and it's the most obvious improvement over V7).

Re: de-obfustication idea/request

No reason to run the unofficial beta now since an official one has been posted. There are several links to it but one is the 6/25/2019 post in the News & Log tab of NewsLeecher. I recommend installing it in a separate directory from NL 7.0 Final because, while it renames the deobfuscated files after...

Re: Side by side Install with 7?

Yes, it works well. I currently have 7.0 Final and 8.0 Beta 1 installed in different directories and I can run either. One at a time, of course; I assume running both at once would cause conflicts. I do use newsleecher.ini to redirect the data and temp files as described by noblemd to simplify acces...

Re: "Sampled" articles - only partially downloaded from Superleech

Like you, I have a Ready-To-Go subscription, so also using Newsleecher's servers. Using NL 7.0 Final, I searched for and found a file with the exact same name as in your previous post. All details the same except the posted size was slightly different: 3,247,787 KB instead of 3,245,282 KB. I downloa...

Re: Speed question

On my HTPC I'm getting a little more than the 75 Mbps I'm paying Verizon FiOS for. That's using either NL 7.0 Final or 8.0 Beta 1 UFR5 and Newsleecher's servers. I also got full speed back when I used Giganews and NL 4.0. I've played with the number of connections, currently using 9. I've limited he...

Re: Newsleecher V8 Beta Release - Timeline

I don't know where Fixxxer found a beta, but as I posted in another thread of this forum (Wishlist for Santa/New version?) I got unofficial forum release #4 (ufr4) from the NewsLeecher site, using a link posted by Spiril back in January. That's about as official as an unofficial release can get. And...

Re: New version?

I just updated to Newsleecher 8.0 Beta 1 unofficial forum release #5, dated 2/6/2019. It's too early to be certain, but so far I've seen none of the error messages or disconnects I had with ufr4. There's a new feature (at least I didn't notice it in ufr4) to show the most recent 24 hours worth of de...

Re: New version?

There's a beta on here somewhere but I can't find it now. Anyhow I'm using it alongside 7 Final Spiril posted a link to an unofficial beta back in January. Here's his post . I've been using it since then, also with 7 Final to fall back on. The beta's best feature is that it renames deobfuscated pos...

i am experiencing article corruption bugs while browsing Usenet groups. Need Help
Everyone did. See the Feb 13 note w/update on the NewsLeecher News & Log tab.

It seems to be fixed for later entries but the corrupted articles may remain corrupted.
