Forum to discuss the NewsLeecher SuperSearch Service.
• Before posting SuperSearch questions, please read the SuperSearch Usage Guide.
• The current SuperSearch status is listed on the Services Status Page.
IMPORTANT : Be sure to read the NewsLeecher forums policy before posting.
1 - not indexing completely
Search for term 'fl!pper' returns 2 results from 347-349 days ago, this is incomplete.
Download of headers for alt.binaries.tvshows shows 200 results, same time period.
2 - change in supersearch syntax
Supersearch no longer honoring numerical input unless placed in quotes.
Supersearch for 'flipper 1963' results in maximum search result overflow
'flipper "1963"' returns filtered results as expected
It would be helpful if changes to supersearch were documented, as this is a paid part of service
3 - general neglect of supersearch/newsleecher
It is pretty clear that this is a legacy application, that is, no new development, just extracting monthly subscriptions until declining revenues make maintaining services unprofitable.
So, it might be a better business practice to just be honest about the situation instead of unconvincing posts every few months proclaiming a new beta "soon."
That would also save the transparent shill accounts from defending lack of results with "yeah, but NL is free" posts. NL has no residual value other than as a wrapper for Supersearch, which is NOT free.
PLEASE salvage some dignity and stop the charade about new development.
No need to respond, Supersearch results will speak for themselves, and lack of newsreader update will prove my point.
1 - no release of vaporware beta client - check
2 - thus, no release of vaporware final client - check
3 - sparse posts from moderator explaining "new bug found, more time needed, coming soon, have faith!" - check
4 - random posts from shill accounts discussing features of phantom beta client - check
That's all for now, rinse and repeat.
Stay tuned another 6 months for the next episode of "Our users are so gullible"
