I would like some additional filter power.
Boolean
Boolean searches including support for brackets.
Example: MovieX AND (.mpg OR .avi) NOT .rm
Refine
Or just keep the current method and add a refine button.
Search as usual. You now get 1000 hits. Click teh refine button and enter diffrent search criteria. This time NL only searches within the results from the previous search.
Global filters
Say I hate picture newsgroups. The global filter would hide all newsgroups that have 'pictures' in their name.
I'm also only intrested in binary groups so everything without binaries is hidden.
I hate groups with less that 2000 posts. Hide those groups.
I know some of the above can be done by filtering.
What I suggest are filter settings in options.
The same filter system could also be applied to the article list.
Perhaps per (set of) group basis.

-True- virtual groups without the duplicates. That is the one thing my other newsreader, Usenet Explorer, has that Newsleecher does not have. Once Newsleecher is able to get rid of the duplicate posts, then I'll have no reason to use UE anymore.
Thanks! |

Road Map - But I don't believe it has been updated since v3 was released so some things might have changed slightly.

The lack of download scheduler is killing me more and more as time goes on. Especially when it was slated for release a long time ago (with plenty of interest shown).

I am not sure if this has been mentioned (there are ten pages on this thread). I saw that for Version 5 it talked about text groups being added on. I think for an educational standpoint, indexing the entire posts of text groups and even text posts in non text groups would be a great addon.
If someone is looking for something regarding 'satellites', the search query can find posts that have the word within the post and not just the title. |

The ability to apply a priority number to a range of files so I can have newleecher use my pay per gig astraweb account for files I want fast, but fall back to my free ISP servers for lower priority files. _________________ Mark F Chinsky |

| Can you implement a feature where it is shown what new groups were added to the newsserver after getting a list of all groups from the newsserver? |

Exactly how is a SuperSearch overhaul going to be a major version increase of the client? It seems to me like a minor (mostly GUI) update and some major work on the server? Or is there more to 5.x we're not being shown?
Also, I've been having this idea of a P2P kind of supersearch. I'm not sure how to implement it, but if everyone keeps headering, we may as well contribute that to a searching facility. How about that? _________________ Running (trying actually) Newsleecher 5.0 on Windows 7 x64 |
