Bits and bytes could be considered to be similar, but they are not the same. It takes 8 bits to make up 1 byte of information.

Most Internet companies advertise in Mbps such as 3Mbps/364kbps. This means under the most ideal situation, you could download from the Internet at 3Mbps which is equivalent to 375kB/sec.

K: Kelvin (temperature)
k: kilo (multiplied by 1,000)
M: Mega (multiplied by 1,000,000)
m: milli (divided by 1,000)
B: Byte (8 bits)
b: bit

Replace ',' with '.' depending on the country you live in.
