And automatic PAR / RAR handling isn't on the list either, because a needed PAR DLL interface is still to be released by the QuickPar Author. When it gets released, I'll start working on the integrated PAR support.

Spiril, I have poked around the PAR forums a bit and from what I've seen, PAR updates are few and far between. I honestly wouldnt hold my breath waiting on the PAR2 dll. Besides, the spec is available, and integrating your own PAR solution could end up being much more efficient in the end (compute PAR checksums in parallel with decoding the article chunks, avoiding the need to re-read the data from disk to perform the checking, etc). This functionality could far exceed what is possible with any plugin, and would reduce the need for the plugin engine, as my hunch is that PAR checking is driving the need for plugins in the first place. |

Well you've got yourself a guaranteed $30 when you implement SSL support in Newsleecher
Keep up the good work.

| Too bad that subject grouping didn't make it into the list yet, that's a feature I really got to appreciate while using NewsMan Pro. Browsing gets tedious and annoying in groups with tens and hundreds of parts. |

Scheduled for v4 I believe. Check the Road Map for further details.

I'm personally looking forward to download scheduling. I hope it's comming very soon Might i already suggest an option "ignore schedule". For example, you select a bunch of files, right click "ignore schedule" and that stuff will be downloaded when you connect (leaving all the other stuff for the schedule). _________________

I'm looking forward to the download scheduling as well ... over here in Belgium ISP's put crazy download limits on their accounts so you're limited to an average of 20-30GB a month.
To compensate this they created 'night-surfing' which means that during the night your download only counts half. For example: I download a 1GB file and I'm only 'charged' 500MB on my download meter.
This is why the download scheduling is very important to me (and undoubtedly a LOT of my fellow Belgians:) )
In the mean time, does anybody have an idea on how to emulate such a feature for the time being? i was thinking of configuring 'auto connect on startup' and putting newsleecher.exe in my Scheduled Tasks list in Windows ... but closing the program (gracefully) when the night ends is a different matter |

I haven't tried it myself but you could schedule your system to shutdown or reboot at the end of the "night" period. If you turn off the "Are you sure you want to quit" warning dialog in Newsleecher then it should quit properly when the system shuts down.
Also before getting NL ready to download for the evening, queue all the files then quit NL to make sure it has unloaded any group headers from memory. If NL has to unload group headers and save a header cache, it could take too long when the system is shutting down and windows will kill the application thus causing corruption. _________________ Please be aware of and use the following pages...

How about the ability to filter files by min/max size? In the SuperSearch, explorer, queue, and articles section?
By the way, you guys rock! Keep up the awesome work! |

| I'd like to see "Smart Leech" get smarter, and to ALWAYS save to subdir's, based upon a best-guess effort. Scheduling does nothing for anyone who's not tied down on their Internet access, but improving "Smart Leech" (and making it a global toggle) would help everyone ... especially those of us who need to weed through 30,000 files in a directory for a certain group of files. |

I just came onto this thread to say the same exact thing. Very weird.
If you look in options ---> download theres this feature:
"Keep 0-Part description files"
The application already has the ability to read the post name and dump it to the download directory in a flat file, could this feature be combined with the code that powers:
"Put downloads into groupfolders"
To allow some sort of auto sorting for the downloads?
I'd like to see that added to your poll.

Plugin/scripting support definitely.
That would open the door for all sorts of new features.
