Well I thought I'd jump back in as I have the Asus P4P800 SE with the problem until I updated the Marvel driver. I went to Asus' web site and installed the latest one and all has been ok for more than a week now.
Thank God as the US server downloads at 500k verses the 325k or so from the Europe one. |

I have a P4C800-Deluxe with onboard 3C940 and I was having same problem.
Threw an old 3com nic I had laying around and np for a couple dvd's worth. Keeping fingers crossed,
Still this problem needs to be fixed, by either NL or GN, wherever the problem lays.

I'm having the same issue with downloads hanging, quite often at 98% complete. (newshosting/easynews/ISP)
Until this problem is fixed there should be a function to allow us to save/re-combine the parts it has downloaded.

I have the ASUS A7N8X deluxe which comes with two NIC cards, after reading through this post I decided to change the cable from the Gigabit Marvell Adapter to the regular 100Mbs adapter. I did not even have to close newsleecher and the files completed downloading right away.
Hope this helps/ |

| I started having the same problems as you guys have been having as soon as I installed a router. If I take the router out of play, the files download fine. Also, as someone else said, if I log into the europe giganews server, they will download fine even with the router in play. The workaround that I found for the problem last night was to make 2 connections to the us giganews server and 1 connection to the europe giganews server. If a part hangs up on the us server, eventually it will make it's way to the europe connection and finish downloading correctly. This way, it will not hang up the download queue once they all get stuck on 1 part that won't download from the US giganews server. Also, like many other people have stated, Agent will download it fine from the US server through the router. I wish that either giganews would change their US server to however their europe server is configured, or newsleecher would change how it downloads the parts to however Agent or other newsreaders download. |

Do you have the lasted firmware for the router?
What NIC are you using? Is it onboard the systemboard? Are the NIC drivers up-to-date?

I have the latest firmware for the router. The NIC is a 3COM Gigabit LOM(3C940) and it is onboard an ASUS P4P800. I just updated it to the very newest driver also, with no luck either.
What I don't get is why will it work without the router, but with the router, if a part won't download with newsleecher, I can load Agent and get the same file to download? Have you guys tried to address the problem by changing anything in the way newsleecher downloads multipart binaries. It appears if you search this forum, this has been an ongoing problem for a LOT of people that is not being addressed. I just didn't know about it until I started using this router.

Swamibob -
You can try disabling the onboard NIC and installing a NIC. Maybe you even have one just lyin' around. See if this works.

Another user that emailed support had this problem with their ASUS mobo with a Marvell gigabit NIC (didn't give model number details). Disabling it and using a 10/100 NIC and everything is fine. He is using Giganews as well.
Add another ASUS/gigabit user having a problem to the list. |
