The fast clear on double click "feature" for the SuperSearch search box breaks Window's usual behavior when it comes to double clicking on strings in text boxes. On a double click, the expected behavior would be to select only the immediate sub-string bounded by any spaces. This would be great for adjusting search strings while I'm trying to modify my search.
I've had many infuriating instances where long, complex search strings were cleared when I only wanted to modify a single term. Any time the search box gains keyboard focus, it automatically selects the entire string. You're forced to click again if you want to highlight a sub-string and if you move too fast, you risk clearing your entire search string. This drives me nuts! You can't just click and drag on the first click either! You HAVE to use at least two clicks and you need to wait long enough so the system doesn't register a double click.
I'd propose adding a clear search button to the search box that, when pressed, clears the search box and transfers the keyboard focus directly to the search box, similar to the one found in may iOS apps. (pic included). That way, you can keep the fast clear functionality, while still maintaining the standard windows behavior for text boxes.
If not this, then at least let me disable the fast clear in the advanced settings or, failing that, don't automatically select everything when the search box gets focus.
Thanks for the otherwise awesome program! |
