|
|
I have a habit of leaving NL running, even when I'm not downloading anything.
Lately, over the past few beta versions, I've been noticing that my computer slows *way* down sometimes. When I go into Task Manager to see what's going on, I'll see NL consuming 50%-75% of the CPU. This is when it's not downloading anything at all. It's just sitting there (seemingly) idle.
Has anybody else seen this behavior?

Just set it to disconnect when empty in these cases. It has something to do with being connected. It shouldn't, but there are a number of performance issues with this product and this one has a work around.
It makes my hard disk hum when not disconnected under these circumstances. |

| 2 things to try would be a hard drive speed test (DiskBench maybe) to see if the HDD isnt getting slow or maybe disable your AV/Firewall for a min before running NL |

Neither of these things should be of importance.
If NL is left connected, but not downloading anything, WTH is it actually doing? It shouldn't be doing anything.
You can tell that most NL issue revolve around threading issues. When I can get an unhandled exception dialog display within a separate thread to the main one - you know there are issues with the implementation.
UI interaction should only occur within the main thread, not child threads. |

They can be but I missed the bit where it does it when not downloading, I misread that. Very very odd |
