|
|
Like the title says. I have had this problem with all versions of Newsleecher, so maybe it's my own problem. But i can't find a solution.
When i use the Repair/Extract tab, the file reports a missing file (red) and says "blocks needed". But when i uncheck the Extract box, it will light up green and "ready to extract".
But when i then check the "extract" box, it will turn red again and won't extract the file to a directory.
With quickpar the fileset reports being complete, so newsleecher is a bit off here. Is there a solution?
I use Winxp sp3. |

Please send an email to support@newsleecher.com with a copy of the log. Make sure to include the file details so we can try to download them and reproduce the issue. Include the name of the news provider as well please. _________________ Please be aware of and use the following pages...

I can confirm this problem.
Average
When I download 10 "subjects", 8 off them are downloaded and extracted and two of them are having missing files. But I can see them In the directory as downloaded.
I then UNRAR them myself and also do the cleaning myself. |

lowiedown, this is exactly as i see it.
Among maybe 20-30% of the "posts" has this problem and i also then manually check/unrar the files.
So i'm not the only one! That is always good to know |

I've been reporting this same issue for the the last few versions. If you exit and reload Newsleecher, all the files will check and extract without error.
It seems like something is keep Newsleecher from seeing the files at all. |

That is not my experience. Closing and reloading Newsleecher doesn't make a difference with me.
The error stays the same. |

I've been working with Miek but unable to reproduce the issue here. I don't think it is a problem with the files as I can download/extract them without problem.
Interesting that it sometimes resolves by restarting NewsLeecher but not every time. Could be a memory corruption issue of the index cache.
Could the others that are having this problem please send me (support@newsleecher.com) a copy of the log when this happens (control-A in the News::Log screen then copy to clipboard, or grab the nl_log.txt file if you have disk-based logging enabled) along with some screen captures. I would like a shot of the RnE window showing the problem, a shot of the files within Explorer, and of QuickPar showing they are valid.
Also, I know it is asking a lot but could you also run a memory test using Memtest86+. It is a bootable ISO that will launch a testing system that will scan all the memory. This can take many hours so run it overnight.
We will do our best but obviously this is an intermittent problem that only some users have so it will be very difficult, if not impossible, for the developer to track down/fix if he can't reproduce it. Especially if it is due to your specific hardware environment. _________________ Please be aware of and use the following pages...

| I emailed the requested files and have run MemTest86+ for a couple passes without any errors. Let me know if I can provide any more information. |

I noticed that NL usually shows an application bug when it's in this error condition and I exit the program. Here's the info it displays:
Bug Data1:
List index out of bounds (0)
Bug Data2:
ErrorID:iewjqroij |
