|
|
I have an odd problem with NL, it will kill my DSL connection at random intervals. I can queue up lots of downloads go to bed and when i return in the morning it's often hung my DSL line. I've actually seen it do it while operating NL, i queue up downloads and all of a sudden i see no throughput going via DUmeter or the network status box for my DSL line. At this point i have to shutdown my PC and reboot, using NBinPro i've never had any issues and when i switched back to using NBinPro i've not had the problem since.
Everything has the lastest drivers, services packs etc. and it doesn't happen unless i use NL.
Hardware:
Zoom PCI ADSL Modem
Software / TSRs:
2kSP4 Srv
Zonealarm 4.5.xxx
Winroute Pro 4.25
NetOp 7.6
DUmeter
UPS Management software
3Com Diag

If you have two computers connected to the DSL does the 2nd one still connect to the internet?
And what are the specs on your computer. Perhaps its something to do with low disk space or high ram usage. _________________ - Icefreez |

| I've got 6 PCs hooked up 2 the DSL using the 2ksrv as the router / proxy, all the other PCs lose connection also. As for specs of the srv, 2gig ECC ram, big fat cpu's and around 1.25tb of hdd, speed and space is no issue. |

Hmm.. I wouldn't think this is a problem with NL then, but rather a problem with your modem or routing. I just don't see how a program located one of your computers could kill your modem. All your modem is dealing with is the huge amount of data going across it.
Have you tried things like downloading lots of files using other programs, BitTorrent... :O Kazaa some other sort of P2P system where you can queue up a huge load of data to test your modem with. _________________ - Icefreez |

| Take off ur blinkers m8, the only instances in the life of the server of this happening is when NL is operating, as i said previously i've switched back to NBinPro and everything is fine. I've uninstalled 8 and re-installed and then when 9 came out i did the same just to make sure but it still happens. |

Is the speed you download from NL and NBPro the same? _________________ - Icefreez |

| It isn't a problem with my line, NL will max out my 2mb line however so will NbinPro or for that matter getright etc. |

K just wanted to make sure that NL wasnt downloading faster potentially causing bugs that would not occur when using other applications.
NL actually downloads from my news server about 100 kb/s faster for some reason, thats why I asked. _________________ - Icefreez |

| Hmm, havent been able to reproduce that prob ... The only way I can kill my router is by using an app that opens *a lot* of connections, like e-mule for example. I could imagine a similar problem might occur with NewsLeecher if you use 3 connetions per server and have 12 servers on your NewsLeecher setup or something ... |

I'm only using 3 servers, 2 + 3 + 3, with the last server being fills only and hardly used so most of the time only 5 connections going.
It hasn't actually done it since I originally posted, if it does I'll let you know. |
