The License ID number/Account Number, which will look like NLDI947CYL88WYV or sw8849304, shown in the Members Area or on your order receipt is NOT the application registration key. Please don't enter this when registering the application.

NOTE: After changing the address on your license, you need to re-register the NewsLeecher application with that new address. Use the Help>License Key Tools>Uninstall Active Key menu option to remove the old license information. Quit and restart NewsLeecher and it will ask you to register the application. Follow the procedure below for your installed version.

There are different versions of the registration keys. Click on the links below for your installed version.

v3.95 to current release

You will register directly from within the NewsLeecher application. It should ask for your license key when the application starts. If it doesn't ask, please use the Help>License Key Tools menu to remove any currently installed key and restart the application.

The registration system will ask for your Members Area email address and password. If you don't have a valid Members Area password, there is a section on the login page where you can request to have a new password be emailed to you.

v3.8 to v3.92

Although v3.8 and v3.9 keys look the same, they are not compatible. Be sure you are using the proper key for your installed version.

These keys are about 24 lines long that begin and end with --------(LicenseData)------- lines. You MUST include these LicenseData lines when you paste the registration key.

Some web-based email systems, like Hotmail, that when you copy the key it will add a trailing space to the end of every line of the key. When you paste the key into Newsleecher, verify that there are no spaces on the ends of each line or else the key will fail.

The key should look like this when pasted into NewsLeecher.

before v3.8

The Members Area cannot generate keys for versions before 3.8. Please contact support for assistance with registering versions before 3.8.

Free NewsLeecher with Giganews account holders
v3.95 to current release

For v3.95 and later, you register directly from within the NewsLeecher application. When the application starts, click on the Continue Trial button when the countdown finishes then use the Help>License Key Tools menu to register with the Giganews special offer.

The registration system will ask for your Giganews account name/number and the registered email address on the Giganews account profile. If the Giganews key request system isn't working, first make sure you are using the right account name and email address by logging into your profile on Giganews website. You can see the current email address by going to the Address Change page.

If it still isn't working then most likely you didn't meet all the requirements of the offer. Please see the Giganews offer qualification FAQ for more details.

Free NewsLeecher with Giganews account holders
v3.9 to v3.92

You will need to request a key from the special Giganews/NewsLeecher Key Request page. This will send you a registration key via email. You will need to copy the key from the email and use the menu Help>License Key Tools in NewsLeecher to enter the key.

Some web-based email systems, like Hotmail, that when you copy the key it will add a trailing space to the end of every line of the key. When you paste the key into Newsleecher, verify that there are no spaces on the ends of each line or else the key will fail.

The key should look like this when pasted into NewsLeecher.

FAQ: Newsleecher asks for the License Key every time it starts up
Some users have encountered problems with Newsleecher remembering the license key when running under Vista. Try running Newsleecher under XP compatibility mode.

1. Right click the Newsleecher icon and then left click "Properties."
2. Select the Compatibility tab.
3. Where it says "Compatibility mode", place a check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" checkbox.
4. Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the drop box.
5. Where it says "Privilege Level", place a check in the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.

There is also a possibility that the key cannot be saved due to a corrupted IE cookie file index. If the above doesn't resolve the issue, please see this forum thread for more information.
