Hello i am using B12 and have just bought a slot with a NSP whom i want to only use if the server with the 1st priority does not have the article. It seems that the for fills only option that was there in previous versions has gone, does anyone know how to make a server do this now. I have set this new NSP's server to 2nd priority.

Many Thanks

You've set it correctly then.

Any articles not available on '1' will be requested from '2' etc..

but is there a way to make it download from the queue in the correct order. So if i have a list of downloads

a
b
c

and download a is not on server 1 it will download the articles from server 2, and then move onto downloading b which is on server 1 so it will ONLY download that download from server 1, and then say c is not available on server 1 so it will use server 2.

I hope u understand what i mean here. I would like it to use all the bw to get basically one file at a time, not split the queue up. So nl should not download an article from server 2 if its available on server 1.

Many Thanks

It doesn't work as it should, I have set it up to use Claranews as priority 1 and Easynews as priority 2, parts not on the first server are just sitting in the queue and not doing anything, when I make Easynews priority 1 too it downloads as normal.

Has it been reported as a bug or is it not meant to function in that way?

Thanks

Are you sure about that? You are one of the first to report that behaviour, and I havent experienced it myself even though I use both priority 1, 2 and 3 servers.

Spril i think the issue that i am having is different to the one that pepperkorn is experiencing, i wanted to be able to use a server for one fuction only, and that is for fills. So NL would go through a queue and if it is unable to download an article it would pause the first server and download the articles from the second server once that article had been grabbed it would resume from the first server. And if need be perform this process again if is unable to obtain the next article from the first server.
Currently what happens is that if the first server does not have the article the second server starts downloading and then the first server bot starts to scan the download list and begins downloading the next available download simultaneously.

I hope this is clear, if not PM me and i will explain in more detail.

Many Thanks for your reply Spirl

Yep, I had some old stuff I wanted to download from Easynews the other night, I queued it up with the settings as decribed above, it just sat there scanning the queue until I made Easynews a priority 1 server and it then downloaded merrily.
