I have noticed similar behavior but i am currently using b14. for me though it only appears when i am using astraweb, previously i had been with giganews but have swapped.
at the moment i have noticed the following:
1. newsleecher getting stuck on certain articles, reseting the bots and it usually kicks in and downloads
2. when downloading it is almost impossible to scroll though groups to look for other stuff or scroll through super search results.
3. when syncing group headers nl locks up and becomes unresponsive until its finished.
like i said earlier this only happens when using astraweb if i use giganews i have none of these issues. what would cause this behavior???????
both astraweb and giganews are set to the euro server with ssl enabled running 15 bots.
system is i7 920 with 6gb ram ocz agility 3 ssd running windows 7 x64 |

| I also used to be with Giganews, due cost, I changed to Astraweb. The trouble with Astraweb, was that when all the group headers were downloaded, there was only 30,000. So started looking around for a decent News Group Server, and decided on Usenetserver, costs $15.98 or £8.73 per month. It downloads the full compliment of newsgroups,over100,000 groups and on article downloads, it moves like crap off a shovel. Reliabilty, I find it very stable, and I am useing version 5.0 beta 15 and am having no problems apart from useing Repair and Extract, or Par Buddy, for which I have a bit of a memory leak. You can only have 20 connections at a time. But as I only use 8 at the most, it suits me just fine. I would recommend Usenetserver to anybody. For me,it is faster than Giganews or Astranews and Cheaper |
