Many of the mega newsservers are freely accesable via IPv6. (e.g. try newszilla6.xs4all.nl) However no major newsreader supports this protocol (or actually AAAA DNS record lookup). That is except for Linux based newsreaders like PAN. Clearly this is a feature that any future release of newsleecher can't do without. Also this is adds a very nice capability to advertise around.

doesn't BNR2 support that too?
and what other benefits do you expect besides free access to this server?
you have to keep in mind that IPv6 transit costs about the same as IPv4 transit. actually most big backbone providers already tunnel their traffic through their "better routing"-IPv6 networks.
the only reason for free access i can think of is testing their software and networks. the number of IPv6 users with IPv6 clients is so low, it won't cost them much bandwith.
as soon as major windows clients like newsleecher are starting to implement IPv6 support and their users attack those free servers, they will close or start to charge for it. _________________ http://www.filesplit.org/ |

This can become: Newsleecher one of the last not IPv6 capable news browser.
Newsleecher version 4 beta 15 has no IPv6 support.
It is possible to use IPv6 with Newsleecher by using nt6tunnel or netsh portproxy. But that is beside the point.
I would like the option of native IPv6 support.
Binary Newsreaders with IPv6 support:
Windows: Newsbin Pro, BinTube, NNTPGrab, SABnzbd+, BNR2, Binbot, Pan
Mac OS X: NNTPGrab, SABnzbd+, Binbot, Unison
Linux :NNTPGrab, SABnzbd+, BNR2
Unix: SABnzbd+, Binbot, Pan
BSD: SABnzbd+ |

| Is this on the todo list of Newsleecher? IPV6 support should not be too hard and it would be a very welcome addition. |
