If I leave NL unattended and running for more than 30 minutes or so my system freezes.

Its very odd because there is not usually any bluescreen error. (Only when I was downloading to my system drive did I get a blue screen error, it was):

KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

I have traced this error to this problem:

0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED: bad cabling, non-termination, or the controller is not able to obtain access to the hard disk.

Perhaps NL is being a bit greedy with disk i/o on fast systems.

When I am downloading to my array it also hangs, but the system just freezes, even the screensaver is frozen.

I am not having any problems with any other software, including NBPro, or the "real" stuff I use like VS.NET, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server Yukon, Photoshop, etc.

Running Server 2003 Std.

System specs:
    P4 3.0 GHz (800MHz FSB)

    1GB OCZ PC3700 RAM

    MSI I875 Neo2

    160GB Maxtor SATA (System Drive)

4x80GB WD Special Edition Drives in a Striped/Mirrored RAID configuration (my download drive).

Strange I have never had this happen to me while just using NL.

I have had my computer freeze while downloading in NL and extracting 4.7 gig files (hmm I wonder what they could be Wink), but I recently found out it was because my HD was not firmly seated in its bay and was possibly a little lose causing it to vibrate. I'm not 100% sure about the exact reason but I just adjusted my HD a bit and now everything works properly.

I doubt your system speed is causing any probems as I don't have those problems. My system specs are very close to yours:
    P4 3.06 GHz (800MHz FSB)

    1GB PC3700 RAM

    MSI I865PE Neo2

4x250GB WD Special Edition Drives configured RAID 5.

Are you using hardware RAID on the motherboard or the disk mirroring in Windoze? That is likely your problem - I'm uning an Adaptec card.

NL still has memory errors (reading/writing to itself) but not as many as beta 8.
