Version: Both Final 4.0 and Beta 5 v12
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Installation: Full
Type of Installation: Both Beta and Registered
Number of servers: 1
Provider: Giganews
Antivirus/Firewall: Norton 360
Number of connections/ server: 50
Newsleecher was working absolutely fine until I opened it and got three message pop ups first: New beta release available. second: Notice: disabling server reason: server hostname is empty. third: an application bug has occured. ( I will copy the big information in later). Somehow all my server information was lost, and I tried to re enter it and then restart Newsleecher and the information was removed again. I tried to uninstall and reinstall both the 4.0 final release and the new beta and got similar results. I've also sent emails and posted in the technical support forum, completely over looking this forum, my apologies.
Bug data as follows:
Bug Data1:
jq8jq8j
Bug Data2:
data error |

Perhaps one of your configuration files is corrupted.
If you are using 4.0 or later, you can hold down F12 when starting the application and it will ask if you wish to load your configuration files. Start with not loading the General Settings File by answering No and it will launch NewsLeecher with the default settings. Immediately quit NewsLeecher to save the default settings to disk. Then launch NewsLeecher again and it should start up with default settings and hopefully no error messages. If you get more errors, try the same procedure for the other setting files.
If using an earlier version, you will need to manually remove the setup.dat file. You can find the location and explanation of each configuration file at http://www.newsleecher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6766
If that doesn't resolve the problem, try moving all of the .dat files out of the configuration data directory and run NewsLeecher again. If there error goes away then it was one of those files. You could move a few of the files back in until you find the corrupt file.
Uninstalling and reinstalling will not remove the configuration files. _________________ Please be aware of and use the following pages...

| I have done that multiple times and get the same results. I have tried to restart Newsleecher, re-add the server then restart the program, every time the dataa becomes lost and I get the same bug report information. Usin f12 to manually choose the information I have tried every configuration and combination of sets each time re-adding the server and got the same results. I have also tried manually removing the data and have gotten the same results. |
