When I right-click an article the option to open is gone. Am I missing something? I now have to click leech twice (or space once) then go to my leech folder and open it to get to read an article.

Sorry, I just figured out that view does the same thing. Very Happy
Thought it was just a text viewer.

Dancing Dancing Dancing

For me this is the best improvement since a year (or more)
I've tested it for about an hour and and indeed it's a gigantic improvement!
Still some work to be done in this area.

I see a "ready to repair" in my RnE list but NL is verifying other enteries in my list. Why? I would say sets should be repaired and extracted with top priority. It will also reduce the overall CPU load because NL has to to less work that way.
Now it find something ready to repair but continues checking the other sets. Then finally it has repaired the file set and rechecks the other sets again. That's just a waste of time.

If I use the "Pause: Next X Minutes" option, then when the countdown ends, articles show as manually paused, rather than what's supposed to happen which is that they unpause and resume downloading.

I've tested this a few times just now and it happens every time. Try putting in 1 minute as the pause time and you'll see the problem. I'm not sure if it occurs when you use one of the preset options (10 minutes, 30 minutes etc.).

EDIT - I just tried using one of the preset pause options (10 minutes) and the files resumed when the countdown ended.

Here's the difference: -

Pause: Next X Minutes (I selected a pause time of 1 minute here) shows "manually paused" next to the bot list with the countdown: -

When the countdown reaches 0, the bots stay in the "manually paused" state.

Pause: Next 10 Minutes shows "temporarily paused" next to the bot list with the countdown: -

When the countdown reaches 0 the bots unpause and downloads resume, as they should.

So I assume this is a bug.

Oh yeah, would it be possible to add an "auto-cleanup on successful download" option?

May I suggest a quickie.

As part of the next release "Group browsing filters" should have a way to quantify effectiveness. I had lots of "a-holes" that did not post no longer. This must have some slowing effect on headers.

I am willing to take a small hit on performance, to track the last 7 days of filter hits. To determine which filters work or not. This could be a turn on/off nerdy option. "Off" being the default. That way dormant posters are removed.

So far the latest forum release #2 works nice. (with known bugs) Nothing new yet.

See this thread: http://www.newsleecher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=106534#106534

This issue persists. Why?

I was trying to see if I could get the scheduler working with version nl50009ufc2.exe
The manual pause will work if using a preset 10 minutes but not if you use pause x=1

Interesting result when you only have a portion of the queue set to download. It shows that I have completed 725% of my download Shocked
When using my Hughsnet Satellite I have to use a schedule to download at night or they will cut me off for being a "hog" (at a whopping 120 KB/s). I had to make a 70 mile trip today so I could catch up on a faster connection.

I realize there is alot to do in the development cycle. I really like your software (still do not undestand RnE) and I will be very happy when this works again.

Regarding supersearch, did you invert the icons for "always append"? I find it odd having to press "-" to show and "+" to hide it. Also it seems to visually lag a bit when closing a supersearch tab, in that the contents of the tab is replaced before the actual tab is removed. Looks weird.

Anyway, that's just after 10 minutes playing around Smile

You're right... Got it switched for the new release. (see below)

Yep, got that on the todo.

Nice work, Spiril, I like most of the improvements. NL development is far from being asleep, so it seems ;-}
One small request: If the Online, Stop, Pause, Toolbox and Tray buttons were the same height as the tab titles (or how do you call them?), we would gain some lines in the header list. The same is true for the Refresh button in SS.

Check the 'GUI Compact Mode' switch under Settings -> Adv. Nerdy Tweaks

Minor request:

Please make the search box maximum size about 1.5x larger. Better yet make it unlimited - maximum in the space available, but others might not like it that big so half again larger would be good enough.

Thanks for the reply on the SS listing error - don’t know why I’m the only one that gets this error.

I reinstalled (clean) Windows 7 recently and it began occurring right after I installed NL so I don't know what is causing the problem.

Really strange. Let me know if you find out more, that could help fix the problem.

I requested this some time ago, but haven't followed up on it; is there any way to enable folders in the Bookmarks - see IE favorites bar (same type of bar available at the top of IE):

Not yet, but I got the on the todo.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea! I'll put it on my todo.

For those of you who have problems with the scheduler and the pausing feature in the previous NL release, check out this test:

http://www.newsleecher.com/nl50009ufc3.exe

Not 100% sure it's fixed yet, but we're getting there!

This fixes the issue for me. It still says "manually paused" instead of "temporarily paused" (as it does if you choose a preset time), but when the counter reaches 0 the downloads resume.

Thanks!

The little update sorted the problem of pausing.
I would like to see the download scheduler revert back to the old one

or at least have the option...

You're not. I've been getting this since late v3.x. It doesn't happen with every one but it will do it with regularity. It only happens for me when I expand a large stack of files. Very occasionally it does it 2 or 3 times on the same stack but mostly it's just once. I cancel the crash dialog, click again and it opens. I might do that 60 or 70 times in a busy session if I'm looking for for something. Sad

So as I said, you're not alone. I even registered just to add support as it's damn annoying. Wink

Where has the 'Open' option in Popupmenu of the Supersearch results gone ?
I used to select this a lot, esp. when leeching .nzb files.

I believe the View button is the same thing as the Open that you're looking for, it was just renamed. This needs changed back in my opinion, View may be great for a text file or something but it's not accurate for other file types. Why change it?

Someone else mentioned wanting a Clean Up button back in super search, I definitely second that. Closing the last tab to clear things isn't very intuitive and there seems to be plenty of room for the button where it was.

The pause button now flashes the timer portion of the icon, which is fine, but it's not depressed or sunk like it used to be, so it's not as clear that it's "pressed". It would be nice if it also had the full icon depressed/highlighted/On if it was pressed.

The "SuperSearch It" on the right click is still in some odd locations (first item inside R&E, above other important ones in the queue, etc.). Honestly not sure what the use of this is but I've never had a need for it, especially inside NL, let alone as a top option.

Other than that things are great so far, keep up the good work!

I'm probably the only one having this problem, otherwise this forum would be drowned by people complaining about it, but every time I quit and restart NewsLeecher, the article list for all the subscribed groups comes up empty!

Edit: never mind, I did not set the retention limit...
