8.3 beta
I really miss the results filter. I understand that you can now filter in the same text box used for searching however this is less than Ideal. Now that Adult and General have been combined I now do a "new24" search and then go to the search bar and enter -xxx -megusta to filter out adult info and specific file text. Previously I could just enter that information in once and it would persist even if I did additional searches. So far this and the fact that the advance search was removed is really the only real inconvenience I have found with Beta 3.

I agree - WHERE IS THE RESULTS FILTER????

Re: 8.3 beta
Yeah I am going to revert to 8.2 if I can find the install
Re: 8.3 beta
If you go to the toolbox dropdown and select "releases", you can download previous versions. It might corrupt the settings file though.
Re: 8.3 beta
I made a COPY of the C:\Program Files (x86)\NewsLeecher folder - named it NewsLeecher.b3 then reinstalled v8b2 - they are both working from the same Temp/Data/Cache folder and I have had no trouble launching both versions They both CAN NOT run at the same time (simply won't launch). Run fine - one at a time.
Just had to create a new shortcut for the b3 version on my desktop.
To be clear:
When you reinstall v8b2 it will install in C:\Program Files (x86)\NewsLeecher - that is the reason you copy & rename the folder before you reinstall v8b2.
I now have 2 folders in C:\Program Files (x86)
one named
C:\Program Files (x86)\NewsLeecher.b3
(v8b3 version)
and one named
C:\Program Files (x86)\NewsLeecher
(v8b2 version)
BTW: You can also do this to install NL v7 Final - COPY C:\Program Files (x86)\NewsLeecher and rename the new folder to NewsLeecher.b2 and then install NL v7 - put shortcuts for each on the desktop - Run any of the versions (one at a time).
Update: DO NOT USE THE SAME DATA/TEMP FOLDERS FOR EACH - WILL NOT RETAIN ALL SETTINGS WHEN YOU LAUCH V.3 AGAIN

Re: 8.3 beta
How the advanced search and results filter could disappear from Beta2 to Beta3 makes me wonder how testing is done in the Beta phase before a release of it, since there has been a good amount of time between Beta2 and Beta3 to verify the BASICS of the application are working

Re: 8.3 beta
Just noticed the results filter missing myself, can't say I used it that much though
Re: 8.3 beta
1. The search input field control is TOO SHORT. Yes, I can enter more text than will fit, but it is annoying to see so little of my query. Especially on my screen where I have about 6 inches on completely empty space between the search tools and the 'Folders' button. The search input control should probably stretch to fill at least SOME of that wasted space.
2. Without the Advanced Search dialog, most of us will need a "cheat sheet" handy just to remember all of the search options and the appropriate syntax and sequencing.
3. The (once again) missing results filter was as useful for its persistence as for its presence. The new method eliminates 50% of the functionality while adding little but confusion for the users.
And on the SuperSearch end:
1. I tried a search for "vikings s00 or e00 or special" and discovered that it will now match anything with "vikings" in the subject. Apparently ALL of the OR items are completely optional. Sigh.
2. Still hoping for a way to tell the search engine that I don't want a word to match PART of any other word, especially now that the search engine appears to ignore numbers (e.g. a year) in queries. If you don't understand why, search for the movies RED or BIG or the TV show EVIL and you will get a really good idea.

Re: 8.3 beta - Cannot register
Just installed b3 over b2 and now, all my setting are lost and I cannot register. The registration pages keeps "checking my status" and the credentials boxes are greyed out. Useless, as is and when I uninstall and reinstall b2, same problem.
