Oh, I know about that version but it's actually a pre-beta version (Beta 1: Unofficial Forum Release 3) which is why it is not distributed through the beta channel. I didn't think he'd be refering to this as 'beta 3'

This beta really boosts the speed when using ssl.
The final 7.0 did not get me downloads higher as 20-24MB/sec no matter how many bandwidth or usenet providers/sessions I added.
I just reached almost 50MB/sec using 2 providers with 20 sessions in total, all ssl enabled.

I like this new v8 of Newsleecher. The UI looks more modern and update to date to match with the OS.

Thank you for the update :)

Just a quick update to let you know that the first beta of NewsLeecher V8 will be out within the next week or two. Besides a completely rewritten leeching engine, that can dramatically improve the download performance for users with very fast Internet connections, NewsLeecher V8 also features an all new UI that is fully high-dpi compatible, so the UI is 100% crisp, even on 4K displays. Also lots of other changes and improvements coming up.

UI looks dumbed down.
In the same way that Windows 10 is compared to 7.

Just tried the v8 as above...where's the Search Filter gone? Also I noticed the Max Days were less, but apart from that it's very usable.

There are always opinions about an UI - some like it some don't. Like you write...same With Windows 7 and 10.

Instead of messing around with GUI changes wouldn't dev time be better spent writing a 64 bit version.
It is 2017, not 1997.
Ability to use common expression is important as well.

"messing around with GUI" - making a new version 8 is much more than a GUI - BUT it is very important. Try to understand how company development works. Look at Mircrosoft, Apple etc...

We are thinking about making a 64 bit of version 8 as well.
